What to Wear to your Engagement Session

The best and worst part about your session: the outfits.

I get it, because you can find me panicky in my closet before getting my photo taken, yet somehow it’s a part that I am so excited for. Consider pampering yourself, get your hair and makeup done. Then, make a night out of it, you’re all dolled up you might as well get two fun outings out of it!

As for the basic tips:

  1. Stick to neutrals. Cream, navy, white, tan, natural greens, blush. These photograph well on everyone, and keep the focus on you and not your wild printed pants. Though, prints are ok, just keep them subtle and light.
  2. Do not match, coordinate. We don’t need you both in jeans and white tees (unless that’s been your dream forever then by alllll means), consider matching colors, fabrics and styles.
  3. Do not forget the shoes. Nothing pains me more than seeing a cute, cute outfit paired with whatever shoes they had stuffed in their trunk. If you’re going semi-formal be sure to wear dress shoes, heels, or a little wedge.

Kiley and Steve are a perfect example of what to wear:

For those in need of a little visual inspo, I’ve created a Pinterest board specifically for engagement sessions. I love unique fashion, nothing crazy, but feminine and timeless. These pieces will at the very least spark a little sense of excitement leading up to your session.
